Ensi viikon ehdottomasti suurin keikkatapahtuma? Rock The Beach. Biffy Clyron, The Killsin, Apulannan ja Vantin lisäksi lauteille astuu sellainen pikkubändi kuin Foo Fighters. Ai että tahtoisinko olla paikalla? Voi kyllä. Tällä kertaa työt pitävät tiukasti poissa, eikä tanssijalka nouse rantahiekasta, mutta sen sijaan astellaan muistojen polulle. Niiden perusteella uskallan sanoa, että jos vähänkin siltä tuntuu, hankkiudu paikalle Hietsuun maanantaina. Takaan, et kadu.

Foo Fighters on käynyt Suomessa muutaman kerran aiemmin. Oli eräs virvoitusjuomavalmistajan yksityiskeikka, jonne lippuja ei tuosta noin vaan saanutkaan hankittua (ne arvottiin). Oli Kalasataman jättikeikka, jota kuuntelin ulkopuolella kivikasojen päällä Laurin kanssa.

Sitten oli Provinssi. Vuonna 2008 festari kulki nimellä Provinssirock, ja jonotimme Alicen kanssa koko päivän eturivissä odottaen Dave Grohlia kumppaneineen. Bändin nokkamies on melkoinen viihdyttäjä (ja Taylor Hawkins maailman paras triangelinsoittaja) – huumoria riittää, ja entäs ne biisit? Adjektiivit eivät taida riittää kuvaamaan sitä tykkiyttä, mitä niistä löytyy. Se tunne, kun pidät ystävääsi kiinni kädestä, hypit ja riehut ja laulat täysiä All My Lifea. Korvaamatonta.

What’s the biggest music event in Finland next week? Rock The Beach. Alongside Biffy Clyro, The Kills, Apulanta and Vant a certain wee band called Foo Fighters is walking up the stage. So would I want to be there? Oh yes! This time work will keep me up North, but one can always walk down the memory lane. With experience I can say that if you have even a slight possibility of going to the beach party on Monday, go. I guarantee you won’t regret it.

Foo Fighters have played live in Finland a couple of times. There was that time when a beverage brand organized a sort of private gig at Tavastia club. Then there was that huge gig in Kalasatama, which me & Lauri listened to outside, sitting on huge piles of rocks.

Then there was Provinssi. The festival went by the name Provinssirock back in 2008 when me & Alice queued and waited all day in the front row for Dave Grohl & friends to appear. The front man is quite a show man (and Taylor Hawkins the best triangle player in the World) – he definitely has a great sense of humor, and what about the songs then? There aren’t enough adjectives to describe how fierce they can be. The feeling when you hold you’re friend’s hand and you both jump and scream and sing All My Life on the top of your lungs. Priceless.
