Lokakuu lähestyy loppuaan, ja on blogimme perinteeksi muodostuneen soittolistaviikon aika. Soittisviikon avaa vieraileva(t) kuratoija(t).

Kun Oulusta ponnistava, indiekenttää hallinnut Satellite Stories ilmoitti viime keväänä lopettavansa uransa, jotain meissä kaikissa musiikkidiggareissa kuoli. Uutinen tuli yllätyksenä. Satelliitit ovat soittaneet kimpassa kymmenisen vuotta ja toimineet nimenomaan edelläkävijänä, kiertäneet menestyksekkäästi Eurooppaa ja tanssittaneet kansan jalat hapoille. Viimeinen albumi Cut Out The Lights näki päivänvalon reilu kuukausi takaperin. Bändi on viime ajat kulkenut The Final Story -jäähyväiskiertueensa kanssa ympäri maita ja mantuja, ja viimeiset lopulliset heipat sanotaan tulevana lauantaina kotikeikalla Oulun 45 Specialissa. Kun kotimaisen indiemusiikin kivijalkaan tulee lovi, miten se täytetään? Vai tarvitseeko sitä täyttää? Jääköön sinne yksi Satellite Storiesin mentävä aukko. Sitä ennen juhlitaan täysillä kymmenvuotista uraa ja kaikkea siihen mahtunutta.

Tälle playlistille Esa, Jyri, Marko ja Olli-Pekka ovat kasanneet tuolla viimeisellä kiertueella paljon luureissa ja auton kajareissa soineita biisejä. Niitä, joita kuunnellessa voi vuosien päästäkin muistaa nuo viimeiset viikot bändinä. Ja hymyillä.

October is ending soon and thus it’s time for our traditional playlist week, one each day. We’ll start this week full of playlists with our guest curator(s).

When Satellite Stories posted last April on social media that they’d be ending their career as a band, is was a bomb. Something died inside every music lover. The Satellites have been a pioneer in the Finnish indie scene, played gigs all around Europe and making people’s feet ache from all the dancing. Their last album Cut Out The Lights saw daylight just little over a month ago. For the last few weeks the band has been touring over plenty of countries and playing to fans for one last time. They surely will leave a hole in Finland’s indie music world. But we’ve still got a few days left – final farewells will be said next Saturday at a hometown gig in Oulu’s 45 Special. Then we’ll be celebrating the past 10 years with big style.
