Oulun ylpeydeltä Satellite Storiesilta ilmestyi kolmas albumi perjantaina. Sen myötä alkoi myös kiertue, joka starttasi Jyväskylästä ja siirtyi eilisillaksi kotiklubille, Oulun 45 Specialiin. Loppuunmyyty keikka veti jalat muusiksi ja vaatteet hiestä märiksi, joka ikinen soitettu kappale helmeili kimpoillen seinistä takaisin hurmioituneen yleisön niskaan. Esa sanoi jälkeenpäin, että keikka jännitti, mutta ainakaan se jännitys ei heijastunut katsojan silmään minään negatiivisena, päinvastoin. Bändi oli liekeissä.

Ennen kuvapläjäystä muutama sananen itse levystä. Vagabonds kun on juuri sitä, mitä kolmannelta pitkäsoitolta toivoinkin – kehitystä, uusia askelia, varpaiden tuntemattomaan mereen kastelua. Siinä missä Pine Trails on toki hyvä levy, se jossain määrin toisti debyytin hyväksi havaittuja säveliä. Vagabonds on – voiko kitaraindiestä edes näin sanoa – hienostunut. Singlet The Trap ja Heartbeats ovat vain pintaraapaisu siitä, mitä kaikkea albumi pitää sisällään. Nimibiisi kertoo jo enemmän.

Oulu’s pride Satellite Stories released their expected third album on Friday due to which the band is touring over Finland and Europe. Yesterday was the second gig of the tour at their sold-out home club 45 Special in Oulu. There was sweat and good vibrance bouncing off the walls, and even though Esa said afterwards he was a bit nervous about the gig, it didn’t show to the viewers – at least not in a negative way. The band was on fire.

A few words from the album itself are in place. Vagabonds is exactly what I’d hoped for  – some new grounds to walk on, unfamiliar oceans to dip your toes into. As good as Pine Trails is as an album, it’s a bit of a repetition of the debut. Vagabonds however is – can this even be said of an indie rock band? – sophisticated. Singles The Trap and Heartbeats are only a mild scratch of the surface and tell nothing about the whole record. The title track tells more about the sound.
